Autumn Snail Mail

Hello everybody!

I took part in the Autumn round of the Bloggers Snail Mail project that was created by the lovely Gemma - you can check out her blog here! The idea is that two bloggers get paired up and start exchanging messages and get to each other. After a month of communication you send your partner a little gift that shouldn't be more than £5!

My partner was the lovely Rachel! She is mummy to a cute 2 year old and blogs over on: Sunshine & Sparkles !

Rachel got me such cute gifts and today I wanted to share them with you: First of she sent me a pair of pastel green floral socks from oasis! I love the pattern as it reminds me of spring and I really miss the warmer months - already haha! I also received the "mini lipgloss set San Francisco" from essence which includes 3 miniature lip glosses in different shades that are handy for on the go.

The next thing in the package is the "Ginger Mini Manicure Kit" from The Body Shop. I love Body Shop products and this one smells so lovely! And the little nail file has cute gingerbread men on it! Rachel also got me a "Blackberry Dacquiri Blackberry Lip Balm" which I'll probably use a lot during the winter time! The next product had me cracking up at the name and the description on the back: Anatomicals "Smother Superior (Nun Better)" Bergamot and Green Ginger Body Butter! This has such a refreshing smell!

I'm super excited to try out the Barry M "Showgirl Extra Volume Black Mascara" Rachel sent me! I've never tried Barry M's mascaras before so I can't wait to see. I also like the packaging: the pink and sparkling stars are right up my street - and also fit Rachel's blog name perfectly! And last but not least she got me a "2-in-1 Eyeliner & Eyeshadow Crayon" from the brand jelly pong pong. I already used this and really like the formular and how easy it is to use!

I've been truly spoiled by Rachel and really hope we'll stay in contact with each other!

Why don't you join in on the next round of the Bloggers Snail Mail? And definitely check out  Rachel's blog!

And have you entered my 1 Year Blogiversary Giveaway yet?!

Favourite Lipsticks for Autumn / Winter

Hello lovelies!

Today I want to share with you some of my favourite lipsticks for autumn and winter time! A year and a half ago I didn't really wear lipsticks much, but you could say I got converted! Now I'm known to love a pop of colour on my lips amongst my friends and honestly: nothing can beat a good lippy, eh?

I chose a variety of different products from lipsticks to lip lacquers over to lip balms - so there should be something for everybody!

Rimmel Apocoalips Lip Lacquers in "Galaxy":
I love everything about this! The colour is a gorgeous dark cherry, berry. The formular goes on liquid and dries on the lips but still leaves them looking glossy. The doe foot applicator makes it really easy to apply. Also the smell is delicious!

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss in "107": I think this is all bloggers, all time favourite lippy! 107 is a lovely wine red colour with a matte finish. It's easy to apply and has a good staying power. I also think it suits so many different types of people.

Collection Lasting Colour Lipstick in "3 Sugar Plum": I gave this a mention in my first ever Favourites post last November (such a long time!) and I still love this. It's a lovely plum shade with a little bit of shimmer to it. You can either wear this sheen or build it up to a bright pop of colour. I've also had lots of compliments on the shade when wearing this!

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in "225 Sultry":
The balm formular is one of my favourites! It's so easy to apply, gives you a great amount of colour and it has a matte finish. The colour is a gorgeous plumy shade, with a brown undertone. This also has a lovely minty taste to it!

MAC "Oblivion":
This is a gorgeous blood-red shade with a slight blue undertones. Oblivion has an amplified creme finish. (You can read an in-depth review of this here!) Now unfortunately this lipstick is from the "Rocky Horror Picture Show Limited Edition" range, so I don't think you'll be able to purchase this anymore. But I still wanted to include it in this list as it's one of my faves! Also I'd love to know if you own something similar to this shade - I'd love to get a dupe of this!

MAC "Diva":
And last but not least a lipstick for all the brave ones out there! Diva is a super dark wine red shade with a matte finish. This lipstick is the definition of "vampy lipstick" for me! I really want to wear this more often this winter season and I hope I'll be brave enough as this is such a gorgeous colour! I've got a full review of this over here if you're interested!

And here are all the swatches for you left to right in the order from above :)

What is your favourite lipstick for Autumn / Winter? Do you own any of the one's I've mentioned? And are you excited for the festive season?

ALSO: Have you already entered my 1 Year Blogiversary Giveaway to win a MAC lipstick of your choice?

Tips Tuesday #7

Hello lovlies!

It's nother tuesday and here's another nail varnish that I want to talk about: Catrice "62 Must-Have STEELetto".

This is a gorgeous metallic shade with a slight plumy shimmer. I think I'll use this lots during the upcoming festive christmas time. I also like the formular: it just glides on and dries really quickly. I only needed two coats to get great results (you can see below - and please excuse the bad manicure, I was in a rush painting them!)

Since I got this in a drugstore in Austria I have to say I'm actually not sure if the brand Catrice is being sold outside of Austria or Germany. Please let me know if you've heard of it before or tried it yourself!
What do you think of this colour?

LUSH Haul

Hello lovelies!

Yes this is another LUSH haul coming your way right now - are you ready?

I had a little time in between my Uni lectures last week and happend to be wandering past a LUSH store and couldn't just walk past, so I dragged my best (male) friend inside.

Since it's getting cooler and cooler outside I figured why not treat myself with some gorgeous smelling bath bombs? The first one I picked up was "Butterbear" - look how cute it is! The lady in LUSH recommended this for dry skin as it's really nourishing thanks to the contained cocoa butter and ylang ylang oil. It smells like vanilla with a slight hint of cocoa (due to the contained cocoa powder). Butterbear was the cheapest out of the bunch with 3,95€.

Up next is "Dragon's Egg" I've seen this one in several other LUSH hauls and just really wanted to give it a go. It actually doesn't look too exciting on the outside, just a plain white bath bomb, but I think there's something colourful hidden inside. This bath bomb has a really fresh citrus scent and contains lemon oil, bergamot oil and there's also some popping candy hidden so I guess I'm in for a surprise! I'll definitely let you know more about this after I've used it. This was 5,95€.

I also got "Phoenix Rising": this bath bomb is a pure beauty, I love the purple and gold shimmer it has. The cinnamon scent is really rich and strong, really luxurious! I can't wait to drop this into my bath tub! I paid 5,75€ for this.

And last but not least I got something christmassy: "Holly Golightly". This looks super festive with all the silver glitter and the holly leaf. This bath bomb is entirely green on the inside though - so it will make my bath water turn into a great colour. I'm a bit scared how to get rid of the glitter in the bath tub afterwards though. It also smells like christmas to me, like clove and a bit of cinnamon! This was the most expensive one I purchased at 6,95€.

Have you bought anything from LUSH recently? Would you like to try any of the products I go?

xx Ann-Kathrin

Tips Tuesday #6

Hello everybody!

Tips Tuesday is back - whoo! I actually haven't really worn any nail varnish recentely because my nails haven't been in the best condition. But last week I was in the mood for something subtle on the nails so I opted for essies "Sand Tropez"!

This is a sandy beige, a great neutral for everyday wear or for special occasions when you want to wear something classy on your finger tips. I haven't worn it too many times yet, but I can't wait to get more use out of it.

Like with all essie nail polishes it's got the perfect brush size and consistency. You'll definitely need a good two to three coats because otherwise your natural nail will shine through. The polish lasts around 2 to 3 days on the nails.

Do you own Sand Tropez? What is a nail varnish you recently added to your collection?

xx Ann-Kathrin

MAC "Oblivion" - Rocky Horror Picture Show Limited Edition

Hello lovelies!

As I mentioned in my September Favourites post last week I absolutely love the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and whilst browsing the web looking for some pictures of the actors today (yep a weird thought but hey haha!) I stumbled upon the rumour that MAC Cosmetics are bringing out a Limited Edition range all about the Frank-n-Furter and co! I looked a bit further and found out that this was true and so the next change I got I popped into the MAC store to ask for the release date.

The lady at the store was so lovely and really helpful, she told me that the release had been pushed back to the end of October. At first I was a bit gutted but she asked to write down my number so she could give me a ring if it arrived earlier! So last week on monday I got the call that the collection will be in on wednesday. I went in the next day and came out with this little beauty! I actually was really lucky to get my paws on it because even though I was at the store 3 hours after opening there were only 4 lipsticks in the shade "Oblivion" left!

Oblivion is a lipstick with an amplified créme finish. I would describe the colour as a blood-red with slight blue undertones. This lipstick is a bright pop of colour and definitely an eye-catcher - I already got lots of compliment when I wore it on a night out (which isn't the worst thing eh?). The formular feels really lovely, it glides onto the lips smoothly and also feels nourishing on the lips.

you can also see my new hair colour and piercing here! what do you think?
As with all MAC products the packaging is gorgeous and sleek but this Limited Edition is clearly a winner! I love how the characteristic Rocky Horror Logo - the lips - was used on all the products from this range. I actually feel pretty special owning such a gorgeous lipstick bullet! ;)

And of course this lipstick also has the typical vanilla scent that all MAC lipsticks have.

Have you seen this collection in stores already? Do you want to get something for yourself? If so what?

Have a lovely day,

xx Ann-Kathrin

September Favourites

Hello lovelies!

Oh wow it's already mid-October now which means this is probably the latest I've put my monthly favourites post  - yet haha! Non the less I want to share with you some things I've been loving throughout the month of September! It's a short one this time because there aren't so many products that really stood out to me this month..

We've all seen it floating around the blogosphere, instagram, twitter and youtube and now I'm also going with the trend of nude lipstick! Kylie Jenner seems to master it with top notes and of course I'm by no means close to her level but I still enjoy a nude lip with a neutral toned smokey  eye! My choice of lipstick is from NaturalCollection in the shade "Fig Leaf".

To keep my lips soft and nourished I've been using the "Labello mint & minerals" from the "pure & natural" collection! I've been using Labello since forever and always love their products! This one has a nice mint taste and is really cooling on the lips.

The L'Oreal ColorAppeal in "153 Metal Plum" is a total bargain from Tescos - I've picked this gorgeous little thing up in the sale for only £1,50 and immediately fell in love with the colour! I'm usually sticking to my neutrals for eyeshadow but this metallic plum shade is just to gorgeous! I've worn this on nights out for a Real eye-catcher!

As I mentioned in my "Life's been busy …" post I've really enjoyed working out! And yep that's a weird one for an usually lazy bum like me but what can I say! I'm working on my fitness not only to loose weight but to get fitter - meaning: not to be exhausted running up a flight of stairs! Also I'm in love with cute gym outfits and trainers - I'm planning to buy a third pair in less than 2 months which is crazy!!

And last but not least my biggest favourite this month has to be movie nights with my girlfriends! I'm usually not one that goes to the cinema very often - I usually watch films much later, when they're already out of theaters haha but over the past few weeks we went to the theater, as well as rented out some DVDs and watched a bunch of good movies. I'd recommend you to watch "The Other Woman", "Sex Tape" and "That Awkward Moment" for a good laugh! I honestly laughed throughout those entire films! And if you haven't already you need to watch "Divergent" - it helps if you've read the book though, otherwise you might feel a but lost in the storyline. And I've also rewatched "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" for the hundred thousands time (probably haha). I just love this film and the songs are so catchy - this also triggered a recent beauty buy which I'll be blogging about next week so keep your eyes peeled!

And that's it - a short but sweet wrap up of my favourite things in September!

What have you been loving last month? Tell me in the comments! And if you have any film recommendations I'm happy to hear those as well:)

xx Ann-Kathrin

Life's been busy...

Hello lovely people!

Where on earth have you been? Yep, it's been a while since I last blogged and I feel really bad about being a rubbish blogger. I know that's probably what every other blogger says, when they take some time off.

Anyways I just didn't get around to sitting down in front of my laptop and type up a blog post. Life has just been crazy busy lately..

First things first: I moved back home to Austria! I spent the past 10 months living in England. After my graduation last June I decided to take some time off before starting university and go and spend some time abroad. It's been a great experience but I'm still happy to be back home and reunited with my family and friends. I'm planning on doing a whole blog post about my time abroad so if you would like to see that please let me know in the comments!

And of course I had to catch up with some friends, meet up for coffee, go for a nights out and so on ... It's been really lovely to see everybody again!

I've also been working my butt off. Summer time always means "Wine Festival time" in my region. Yep it's a traditional festival where most wine traverns open up and sell their wines and food and of course there's always bands playing (which can be horrible sometimes because they like to play Schlager Music - if you don't know what that is: be happy about it haha or just google it ;D). I live in a wine-growing village and nearly every town around it has it's own wine festival, every festival is about a week to 10 days long! I've been working at two of those wine festivals as a waitress and even though it's fun and I enjoy it, it can be quite challenging and tiring (talk about serving drunk or rude people).

I joined the gym beginning of August and have been working out four to five times a week. I never thought that I would say this but it's actually a lot of fun - especially if you have a training buddy! And of course I can't wait to see some results!

I also took an entrance exam for university and got my results this week! So starting in October I'll be studying English and Psychology and Philosophy in order to become a teacher at the University of Vienna - whoooo!

And that's pretty much everything I got up to! I hope you'll take my apology and I'll make sure to be posting more regularly again - after all I really missed blogging!

Please let me know what you got up to this summer! Did you go on a holiday trip? Or did you have a summer job? I'd also love to know what kind of posts you would like to see from me in the future!

Lots of love,

Ann-Kathrin

Tips Tuesday #5

Hello everybody!

Another tuesday and another post in my Tips Tuesday series! Today's nail polish is essence colour & go in the shade "111 English Rose":

I found this the other day just sitting in one of my desk drawers and fell back in love with the colour. I've had this for quite some time but kinda forgot about it.

I love this dusky rose colour because it's unlike the girly pink shades in my collection. In my eyes it looks really classy and sophisticated. It might be more of an autumnal colour but I absolutely love it for all year around!

Since I've had this bottle for a "little" while now the consistency has gone a bit gloopy, but I can tell you it's usually really lovely and easy to apply. It dries quickly which is also great - you should know by now how impatient I am. And the brush is also the perfect size, not too big and not too small!

What do you think of this colour? Have you ever tried any of the essence colour & go nail polishes? If so which ones?

Have a great tuesday,

xx Ann-Kathrin

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

Hello lovelies!

aaaaah I've finally got it!! After over a year of craving this palette I can finally call it mine: the Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay! I featured this in my "Before I Leave Wish List" and shortly after uploading that post I bought it!

The palette consists of 12 beautiful taupe-hued neutral which contain matte as wells as shimmer eyeshadows. There are 3 matte and 9 shimmery hues that come in a sturdy metal packaging with a huge mirror. The product also comes with a double ended brush with one end for applying eyeshadow and the other for blending it out.

Foxy a matte sandy beige shade
Half Baked a gorgeous gold with metallic shimmer finish
Bootycall champagne hue
Chopper intensive chopper shade
Tease a dark taupe with matte finish
Snakebite brown with golden shimmer

Suspect a lighter brown shimmer shade
Pistol a grey taupe hue
Verve a light silver shade
YDK is a metallic rose gold
Busted a rich dark brown shimmer shade
Blackout a matte and ultra-black

I really tried my best to describe every shade but I'm just horrible at describing colours - sorry!

Anyways: the pigmentation is, just as I expected, incredible! The eyeshadows are so smooth and almost creamy (can you say that about an eyeshadow? haha)

At the moment my favourites for a beautiful everyday make up look are "Bootycall" all over the lid, "Tease" on the outer corners and crease and at last a "Pistol" to define the crease a bit more!

What do you think of this palette? Do you own any of the Naked palettes yourself? Which one is your favourite?

xx Ann-Kathrin

Tips Tuesday #4

Hello lovelies!

Tips Tuesday Number 4 is all about the Rimmel London I Love Lasting Finish in "198 Azure":

This is as the name suggests, a lovely azure blue with a metallic sheen! I seem to have forgotten about this little gem but when raiding my stash the other day I discovered it again. The formular feels a bit sticky to me and I needed a good three coats of it so my nail wouldn't shine through! I really love the colour though as it reminds me of the beach and the sea which makes it a great summer shade!

And since I needed three coats it started chipping on the second to third day which is a bit of a bummer. But as I mentioned before, most of my nail polishes chip quite quickly, so that's nothing new!

Have you tried any of the Rimmel I Love Lasting Finish nail polishes? If so which one is your favourite? And what do you think about this colour?

xx Ann-Kathrin

Empties #1

Hello lovelies!

Today I have my first Empties post for you! I never thought I'd ever be able to write down a post like this because as of late I've become a bit of a product hoarder! But over the past two to three months I've finished quite a lot of products and saved them from going straight into the bin!

Also this is the second time I'm writing down this post, as I somehow managed to copy and paste over the whole post and save it so that I couldn't go back to the old form - damn it. But do I get plus points for my effort?

Face

The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky-Clean Scrub: I've finished another one of these face scrubs. I love it for exfoliating because it leaves my skin really clean and fresh and isn't too harsh either.
Repurchase? Yes I would repurchase this product!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion: I have to say I unfortunately haven't seen any difference on my skin after using this product. But I did like it as an evening moisturiser and the tingling feeling it left on my skin.
Repurchase? No because as I said I didn't see any benefits.

LUSH BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask: I've gone through this face mask quite quickly because it's just a small tub. I do think it feels really nice and exfoliating on my face.
Repurchase? Probably not because it's quite expensive for such a small product.

Nivea Daily Essentials Oil Free Mouisturising Day Cream: I've used this as a daily moisturiser and before applying my make up. I've actually temporarily replaced it with another one and just finished this tub.
Repurchase? Maybe, but if so I'd go for one for normal skin because mine isn't really oily.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation: I've also finished the first product I've ever blogged about haha! I still really like this foundation, even tough this particular shade is a bit too dark for me. I've used it when having a tan and unfortunately I ran out on the day when I was having a tan - ugh bad luck eh?
Repurchase? Yes I would repurchase because the formular is really lovely.

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm: I'm a bit sad about this one being an empty! I love the peppermint flavour and it's soothing on my (apparently always) chapped lips! It's also a non-greasy lip balm which I like.
Repurchase? Yes I would.

Hair

HASK Argan Oil: Unfortunately I didn't really enjoy this product. Okay I did, for like the first three times but after that I felt like it didn't make a difference to my hair at all. I was just left with greasy-looking hair, even when using just the tiniest amount!
Repurchase? No I wouldn't repurchase.

Body

The Body Shop Shower Gel in Passion Fruit: I've also used up this shower gel and I really love the fresh scent, it's probably my favourite! What more can you say about a shower gel? haha
Repurchase? Yes if I can find it on offer, otherwise I'd opt for a cheaper alternative just because you go thorough it so quickly!

The Body Shop Body Butter in Strawberry and Passionfruit: Okay that I've finished two tubs just shows how much I love these! The body butters feel so luxurious, hydrating and leave your skin really smooth. I'm not the biggest fan of the strawberry one, it smells a bit to artificial for me, but as I said passionfruit is my favourite scent (and Vineyard Peach!).
Repurchase? Yes definitely!

The Body Shop Body Lotion in Japanese Cherry Blossom: This body lotion skins in so quick and leaves the skin smooth and smelling nice. I have to say that sometimes the scent can be a bit overwhelming though.
Repurchase? No simply because I'd go for a cheaper alternative.

I Love Bubble Bath & Shower Gel: I've actually used up several different bottles of this in different scents over the past few months. It creates great bubble baths and smells really lovely (all of them!). And it's a handy little shower gel for weekends aways.
Repurchase? Yes I would.

Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Scrub: This is just a great body exfoliator and especially good for getting your legs summer ready. I've also used this to prepare my skin for fake tan, and to get rid of it. Also it smells so delicious!
Repurchase? Yes I would repurchase!

Hands

essence nail art express dry drops: I'm the worst when it comes to being impatient when my nails are drying! My friend recommended me these drops and they are amazing. My manicure is done way faster whenever using this product. I have to say that your hands will be oily after using this, but I just wash the oil of and I'm good to go!
Repurchase? Yes I already have!

Garnier Hand Intensive 7 days Hand Cream Mango: A lovely fast absorbing hand cream that doesn't leave my hands feeling sticky - perfect! I like how quickly it sinks into your skin and leaves it feeling nourished. I've had this product for a while and just finished it now, so I'd say a little goes a long way.
Repurchase? Yes I would.

Health

Bepanthen Wound Healing Cream: This is a forever repurchased product in my family! I don't even know through how many of these we've been through. Yep I've always been the girl that was coming home from playing with the bloody knees or picked open mosquito bites. Nowadays I use it for minor cuts (thanks to lovely cats!), the odd mosquito bite and also on my lips I've they are in really bad condition!
Repurchase? Yes, always haha

I really hoped you enjoyed this Empties post. Let me know if you did and if I should do another one! Have you tried any of the products I've mentioned?

xx Ann-Kathrin

Tips Tueday #3

Hello lovelies!

The product that I'm talking about this week is the Barry M Nail Paint in "SKNP2 Pearl" from their Silk collection.

This nail paint is a gorgeous pearly white which in my eyes looks really sophisticated and classy. I love the pearly sheen that it has. I've also worn this for my birthday party with a black dress and a nice tan and whenever I look at those photos I have to stare at my nails haha

Unfortunately the camera doesn't pick up the beauty of it at all :(
It's also the perfect consistency - it glides on so smooth and looks opaque in only two coats. I prefer this formular over the Barry M Hi-Shine Gelly one because I think it's easier to work with it!

Have a great tuesday,

xx Ann-Kathrin

USA Beauty Wish List

USA Beauty Wish List

USA Beauty Wish List from annxkathrin

Hello lovelies!

Since you seemed to have enjoyed my last Wish List post (see here!) I thought I'd do another one for you! And it's also a wish list that I'll give to my aunt - she lives in America and is coming to visit in August. So I'm taking the opportunity to get my hands on some make up bits that I can't get in Austria or that are cheaper in the states!

I've heard lovely things about the NYX Butter Glosses and that's why there are two on my wish list! The shades that I chose are "Strawberry Parfait" and "Peaches & Cream". I've looked at swatches and fell in love with those two!

Another NYX product I've had my eye on is their Powder Blush in "Taupe". I've heard many people talk about this as being great for contouring so I wanted to give it a go. I also want to get the shade "Summer Peach".

Benefits Hoola Bronzer has been on my wish list for some time now! I've never tried any benefit products before so this will be a first! And I can't wait to try it out!

And the last thing, that unfortunately I couldn't find on polyvore but that I really want to try, is the Physicians Formular Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush! Can we just talk about how pretty this looks? GOSH! I saw Fleur de Force talk about this in one of her videos and ever since then I wanted to get my hands on it!

And that's everything on my current wish list! I want to add some more products so please let me know what other USA beauty products I need to add on this list! What is on your current Beauty wish list?

xx Ann-Kathrin
